The St James Peace Candle has burned, day and night, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the foot of the cross of Jesus on the high altar of the upper church, as well as in the chapel in St James Church since the beginning of Lent of 2003.  It burns as a sign of our commitment as a Christian Community to Peace, and of our constant prayer for nations at war and for those people who are victims of war, and of our prayer for our young men and women in the military, that they return home safe, and whole, and soon.
